(geb. 1913 Bayreuth, gest. 2011 Philadelphia, Pennsylvania)
Hedy Tower was born Hedy Kaufmann in 1913 in Bayreuth. After some training at the Wigman School in Dresden, she began to perform in cabarets. By the time she was twenty, the Nazis had begun to construct the Third Reich. Soon her performing possibilities were limited to the Jüdischer Kulturbund. In 1940 she left Germany and came to Philadelphia where her mother had relatives. She remained in Philadelphia, performing and teaching. She married Herman Sechelstower, whom she had originally met in Dresden. They had two daughters. In 2005 she moved to an assisting living center on the outskirts of Philadelphia.
